Meet Dr. Bishop

Candidate for
Member,  Scholarship and Standards Committee

My vision is to foster a culture of transparency, forward-thinking education, and equity , empowering every chapter to thrive collectively as core contributors to the organization and individually as essential pillars in their communities.  In this role, my goal is to leverage my extensive background in training and policy to lead initiatives that support, strengthen, and equip our membership for sustained impact and success.

Specifically, I see a tremendous opportunity to focus our efforts in four key areas:

  • Membership Intake Optimization and Brand Alignment

  • Operational Excellence and Member Experience

  • Leadership Development and Organizational Literacy

  • Culture, Communication, and Engagement

These focus areas represent strategic moves to position our organization for sustained long-term success.

A Bold Vision. Real Solutions

Membership Intake Optimization & Brand Alignment

  • Optimize training times, condense materials during PPP, and evaluate and refine the membership intake process to ensure that it remains efficient, current, and effective.

  • Revise materials to better emphasize history and the values of the DST brand.

Operational Excellence and Member Experience

  • Exploring an abbreviated advisor training for collegiate members to enhance their understanding of the advisor's roles, expectations, and to strengthen their collaborative engagement.

  • Exploring structural enhancements, such as the potential for regional collegiate representation within Scholarship and Standards, ensuring that collegiate perspectives are included in the decision-making and communication channels.

Leadership Development & Organizational Literacy

Forward-thinking education and proactively equipping members, especially chapter leaders, with knowledge, tools, and confidence to operate effectively within the organization with clarity and accountability.

  • Expansion of President 101 webinars and Education on DST governing documents.

  • Strengthening training on chapter policies and procedures.

  • Offering resources such as skills workshops, online reference materials, and eLearning opportunities to cultivate informed, confident, and accountable leaders.

Culture, Communication & Engagement

Fostering a healthy, connected, and value-driven chapter environment. It emphasizes creating intentional spaces for dialogue, strengthening relationships, and promoting a culture of openness and trust.

  • Regularly scheduled “DSTea” sessions for open dialogue and conflict resolution. Encouraging constructive communication and proactive issue resolution.

  • Story-telling sessions where members share their experiences in the chapter.

  • Interactive Policy & procedure training sessions so that the members are informed.
